During the summer, I teach a summer camp called Girls Got IT! which is funded by a grant from the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT). The camp takes place in two different sessions at Wayzata High School. The main focus of the camp is to give young, inspired and willing females their first glimpse of coding. Us teachers instruct them in the basics of Scratch, an interactive coding animation program, and how it relates to advanced coding languages. The girls complete projects and learn about incredibly intelligent woman involved in coding, which sprouts the very beginnings of a passion.
