Voortbouwend op de kennis en het enthousiasme van het Sporta team en met de sinds lang aangetoonde wetenschappelijke evidentie op zak rond het belang van bewegen, sporten en actief leven, willen we Vlamingen meer aan het bewegen krijgen én houden. Duurzame sportbeleving, laagdrempelige en inclusieve sportparticipatie voor iedereen, en het verbinden van mensen middels een actieve levensstijl, zijn enkele van onze belangrijke doelstellingen. Sporta heeft als organisatie een divers aanbod aan diensten uitgebouwd, waaronder de ondersteuning voor recreatieve sportteams en verenigingen, de talrijke beweegcampagnes en events, de ruim 200 sport-, avontuur-, leer- en creatieve kampen voor jongeren en de sportieve verblijfsformules op de Sporta spots op het land (Tongeren) of op het water (Maaseik). Ambitieus om nog meer maatschappelijke impact te creëren, trekken we een nieuw strategisch plan op gang, om alle Vlamingen te inspireren, te informeren, en optimaal te ondersteunen tot meer en gezonder bewegen en meer leven. "Move more, live more"! This is the mission of Sporta and now also mine as CEO in this vibrant organisation. Building on the know-how and enthusiasm of the Sporta team and backed by the abundant research on the importance of active lifestyles, we reach out to promote healthy movement and sports. We focus on sustainable, approachable, inclusive and joyful sports participation and on connecting people through active lifestyles. Over the years, Sporta has developed services to support recreational sports teams, it organises various sports campaigns, offers over 200 Summer camps for children and youngsters and hosts 2 lodging facilities for groups to enjoy sports on land (Tongeren) or on water (Maaseik). Dedicated to creating more societal impact, we raise the bar for inspiring, informing and supporting even more people in the years to come.

After many years of overlooking activities as board member, I am now in the field of action, with a mission of helping De Poel transitioning to a true social entrepreneurship together with my team. In a context of changing governmental regulation, it is our aim to make the leap and develop this company (employing close to 100 employees providing daycare and residential care services to around 200 adult people with mental impairment) as an authentic, innovative, inspiring, caring service provider to its clients, employees, corporate partners and sponsors, local government and many other stakeholders we are interacting with. In this phase of my career, the focus lies on social-economic value creation, a demanding but very fascinating every day challenge.Na vele jaren volgen vanop de zijlijn als bestuurder, sta ik als Directeur nu met de voeten in het werkveld en is het mijn missie om van De Poel een écht sociale onderneming te maken, samen met mijn team. In een sector die zelf volop in transitie is, willen we onze organisatie van ruim 200 cliënten (volwassenen met een mentale beperking) en bijna 100 personeelsleden, doorontwikkelen als een authentieke, vernieuwende inspirerende en zorgzame dienstverlener voor cliënten, medewerkers, bedrijfspartners, sponsors, lokale overheden en tal van doelgroepen en stakeholders waarmee we interageren. In deze fase in mijn loopbaan ligt de focus op sociaal-economische meerwaardecreatie en ik geef toe, het is elke dag opnieuw een enorm boeiende uitdaging.
