About Ian Sackree

I am a problem-solving independent Consultant offering support to organisations who have a wicked or complex problem or challenge to resolve or an exceptional opportunity in front of them. I use all the experience I have gained as a CEO, COO, Director, Chair, Trustee, and NED working in leadership and governance and utilizing over 30 years as a qualified accountant and 20 years working in a strategic HR, Estates and Capital Project space across a wide range of sectors to get the desired results.I have been a Recruitment, Governance and Education specialist and am a former senior FE leader. I am a business leader and Chartered Certified Accountant with 38 years total experience working in Business, Education, Healthcare, Accountancy Practice, Finance and Corporate Finance, with the last 20 years working within the Further Education sector - including 8 years as Chief Executive (and was COO) of Protocol, one of the UK's largest specialist FE Recruitment House. Prior to this I spent 10 years as the lead for all aspects of resource delivery at the amazing Lincoln College. I believe I understand what 'Good' looks like!I have significant experience as a Senior Post Holder leading a wide range of business development and resource functions including Finance, HR, Facilities and Estates, ICT, MIS, Marketing, Learning Resource Centres and in directing very large Capital Projects (totaling >£50m). My roles have included business transformation and improvement, change management, merger, acquisition, new business start-up, organisational development, business turnaround and community leadership.I have extensive Executive and Non Executive Board experience, and am a very keen volunteer. For a second term I voluntarily lead a large and very successful Army Cadet Force of c. 900 people, and was previously Colonel Cadets for 7 (Infantry) Brigade (East Midlands) and until recently I also chaired a large regional charity, YMCA Lincolnshire focused on developing young people and eliminating homelessness. In 2018 I was invited to be a Fellow of the Society of Leadership Fellows at St George's, Windsor Castle and continued my lifelong leadership journey with the Fellows until 2021. In 2018 I joined the Governing Body of Bishop Burton College, one of my local colleges and I love this role as it keeps me fresh with FE and involved. I stepped into the Chair role in September 2023.
