Profile bio

About Isaiah Hoffman

As a graduate of Drexel University’s Graduate College of Biomedical Sciences and College of Medicine, I am dedicating the next two years toward transcending medical practices through innovation of home testing development in biopharmaceuticals. Following my stint in biopharma, I will be attending medical school where I will serve to represent, mentor, and effectively communicate with individuals of underrepresented backgrounds. While many current medical facilities do not have individuals who can effectively “speak the language” of the Black communities who they are serving, I will serve as the game changer seeing that I not only come from this community but also strive to give back to my community by serving as an effective translator to deliver effective medical treatments. I poses many skills that cannot be taught in any classroom such as an extensive record of leadership, and unmatched work ethic tied to a competitive drive, and a God given instinct toward building networks and utilizing these established networks to generate useful resources for the communities in which I am trying to serve. Through holding leadership positions and membership in organizations such as Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, I am proud to have gained the knowledge and experience to establish a grassroots nonprofit entitled Hosting Opportunities and Mentorship Involving Education & STEM (H.O.M.I.E.S) Incorporated. Through H.O.M.I.E.S Inc., I have successfully partnered with several K-12 schools in both Philadelphia and Los Angeles to pair Black students with Black professional mentors in their area using an algorithm based on factors such as common interests, family dynamics, academic goals, etc. By establishing myself as a research scientist, future physician, and by using H.O.M.I.E.S Inc. as a driving tool, I hope to expand both my own and my community’s professional networks to ensure the success of the next generation of scientists and other professional students within the Black community.
