Launchpad is a two-and-a-half-year “learn-and-earn” workforce development program designed to prepare high school juniors and seniors from underrepresented groups for high-paying careers in tech. The program offers students industry exposure, technical skills training, certifications, and college courses, equipping them with the credentials and experience needed to succeed in the modern workforce. Launchpad’s mission is to create accelerated pathways to tech careers, ensuring young people can thrive in an inclusive economy.

As a mentor for the Launchpad Foundations after-school program, I worked closely with 75 11th and 12th-grade students, guiding them through their IT studies and professional development. My role included answering student questions on IT fundamentals—such as computer hardware, operating systems, networking, and software—and facilitating small group discussions on topics like goal setting, career interests, and corporate immersion. I also supported students in an independent online IT course through Arizona State University, while tracking their progress, attendance, quiz performance, and participation in class discussions.In addition, I consulted with Launchpad staff on end-of-year performance reviews, chaperoned students on corporate office tours, and provided feedback to enhance the program’s curriculum. I met monthly with the High School Coordinator for supervision and coaching and took on additional responsibilities as assigned.

As a team member at GameStop, I provided exceptional guest service by promptly greeting customers, addressing questions, and assisting with their video gaming needs. I informed guests about promotions, trade-ins, and loyalty programs, while recommending additional items to enhance their experience. I consistently prioritized guest interactions over tasks, ensuring a welcoming store environment that led to repeat business.In addition to processing purchases and returns accurately through the POS system, I maintained store cleanliness, restocked merchandise, and safeguarded assets through effective inventory control and loss prevention. I supported store management in meeting sales goals, supervised associates in their absence, and assisted with administrative tasks, including daily cash reconciliation, shipments, and inventory counts. I adhered to all GameStop policies and procedures, contributing to a positive and productive workplace.

As an administrative assistant for the Office of Reentry Partnerships (ORP), I supported various initiatives aimed at juvenile reentry programming in Philadelphia. My responsibilities included performing general administrative tasks, assisting in the development of resource guides for juveniles, and conducting research on state and federal grants. I tracked important grant dates, attended webinars, and took detailed notes to support ORP’s funding opportunities. Additionally, I accompanied the Deputy Director on site visits to partner organizations, attended community engagement events, and participated in staff, coalition, and stakeholder meetings. I also represented ORP at off-site events such as resource fairs and expungement clinics. I contributed to workforce development programming for juveniles on-site and helped identify potential partners to enhance our programs for youth impacted by the criminal justice system. Lastly, I performed any additional duties necessary to support the goals and activities of ORP.
