Two recommendations submitted by CPCA were adopted, resulting in an expansion of California clinics eligible for federal workforce funds. Work to influence potential state and federal legislative options around loan repayment, as well as other private scholarship and grant opportunities, which support loan repayment programs specific to practicing in underserved communities. Develop programs and conduct advocacy efforts that support the expansion and implementation of community-based training programs, residency programs and innovative GME models, and nurse practitioner and physician assistant post-graduate programs. Additionally, partner with medical schools targeting diverse candidates committed to working in underserved areas. Advance team-based care models, address physician burn-out issues and advocate for policy and regulatory changes that support effective retention strategies. Identify and analyze existing healthcare workforce information coming from partners and stakeholders needed to create shared advocacy messaging around building a diverse healthcare workforce, and to serve as a coordinating force between local, statewide, and national workforce efforts. Identify and remove regulatory barriers inhibiting primary care provider recruitment, as well as provide training and resources to support recruitment efforts.

Collaborate with the CEO to execute board recruitment strategies to effectively fill open positions through diversity initiatives.
