As a member of the beach crew, I guided hundreds of guests on kayaks, each day, through high-surf conditions at the La Jolla Shores beach. I also discovered many unwritten rules of running a small, seasonal business.

As a volunteer at the El Cajon office of the California Department of Forestry, I was responsible for building several windows computers for department firefighters. I also had the opportunity to work with department engineers to construct maps of fire damage in the Southern California region, using ESRI ArcGIS software.
