About Ian Armstrong

I am a design strategist, people manager, an engineer of digital behavior, and a 20+ year veteran of the online revolution. In a noisy era of design I aim to clarify what makes good UX work, not just parrot the work of others and call it original thought. Design leadership is an introspective journey, not a retrospective one.If we do our jobs well, no one sees the intricacy of the design. This elegance of design is key to crafting experiences that feel natural. This cleanness in design requires an equally elegant process. As a design leader, I foster a collaborative UX culture and advocate for strong stakeholder buy-in throughout our lifecycle. My teams thrive on integrated data and design iteration to test ideas that evolve with our customers. I encourage open communication, a diversity of opinions, and critical feedback across functions. In order to scale quickly, design processes should be consistent and repeatable. Over 20 years, I have worked to foster a "tinderbox" mentality in my teams that proactively sparks new ideas, creates options, and continually anticipates results rather than simply reacting to problems as they arise.

Listed skills include Automotive, Vehicles, Automobile, B2B, and 95 others.

Good design is storied design. Story connects brands with audiences in a way that raw numbers don't. If your company/brand is parroting talking points from the sales sheet or quoting specs from the product design document as an audience lead, you're talking right past 90% of your market. Our agency is made up of veterans from across a range of companies..
