I thrive on learning and applying skills in full-stack development, including C#, .NET, Angular, Typescript, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, MySQL, SQL Queries, to name a few, and I enjoy continually learning new skills. I've had a wide range of experience and roles including, medical technologist, database and system administrator, teacher and pastor. I have a strong desire to serve others by providing creative solutions in a challenging environment. My initial training in medical technology led me to volunteer at a non-profit hospital on the edge of Ecuador's amazon jungle. The experience was amazing, working in general areas of the clinical laboratory and getting a first-hand look at tropical medicine.During my work in the lab, it became rather tedious as we entered clinical results by hand into spiral notebooks. I began looking at ways to streamline data entry, first with spreadsheets, and later with a VBA/MS Access database solution. I also designed a cash-flow system for the hospital which tracked all income and expense transactions for approximately 30,000 patients annually from all over Ecuador, and internationally. Addon modules included pharmacy inventory, laboratory, x-ray, endoscopy, helpdesk and others. Later, I migrated the backend from MS Access to MySQL, which was a challenge, but very enjoyable. As a volunteer, this potentially saved the hospital $30,000 in start up costs, and thousands more in support. In addition to the database work, I served as systems administrator, overseeing a hospital network of Linux servers, and 40 + Windows clients, a telephone PBX for 100 internal lines, software maintenance and upgrades, hardware repair, connection box installations, switch, hub, ethernet and fiber optic testing and maintenance. The fun never stopped, but it did get rather hectic, troubleshooting a myriad of issues in multiple areas. My wife and I also started a church in our home. Among many very rewarding experiences, we trained and guided group leaders, provided counseling, taught classes, planned adult and children's classes and social activities, participated in spiritual, social and medical outreach to remote communities. Our time in Ecuador was a full experience, to say the least. I cannot even begin to describe everything, but we are so thankful for the opportunities.
