The aim of this secondment is to study and investigate the possible benefits of the coexistence of small cells with Low Power Wide Area Networks (LPWANs) for improving the Internet of Things connectivity, in the context of 5G NR, via non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) techniques. In doing so, implementation and parametrization of NOMA over NR will be considered by exploring the transmitter/receiver blocks that need to be modified to integrate NOMA to existing IS-Wireless 5G-Toolset. In addition, during this period, the O-RAN 7.2x functional split was examined.

- Research and implementation of Industrial IoT software for constrained devices, for sensing / actuating, with use of C99 and/or IoT OS.- Architectural design, research and development for storing data and managing IoT devices, by using the Edge Computing paradigm. - Full stack development of IoT management platform by using Django, PHP and Java.

The period devoted to the architectural study, simulation analysis and experimentation related to theadoption of IPv6 in WSN. In particular, it was related to 6LowPAN, IEEE802.15.4e, RPL and COAP and their implementation in the OpenWSN framework and possible comparison with other implementations (such as Contiki, Riot, etc).
