Ishaya, Gabriel Balarabe is an aspiring medical Geographer with the utmost concern for the health and wellbeing of neglected rural poor/disadvantaged; Almajiris and Environmental Sustainability through Advocacy both in experience and research. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Geography.He has worked with several organizations that have culminated in enhancing his professional and leadership skills. For about six years, Ishaya was involved in gross leadership exposure with the Nigeria Fellowship of Evangelical Students (NIFES). Based on the experience gathered from here, Gabriel could foster the campus growth of the organization and the numerical growth as well. He was also saddled with the responsibility of representing the student arm of the organization at the national level for two consecutive years, after which he was onboarded as a staff for about a year, where he provided and defended extensively, the reports on the state of the organization at both zonal, area and national level. He also worked with the Katsina State Government – The Katsina Arid Zonal Programme, and the Katsina State Urban and Regional Planning Board and led his team in the Green Revolution Project and traffic evaluation processes, respectively. In scholarship, he was a committed facilitator with the Scholars Forum (SF) while on campus and later became an academic mentor to over 45 students at the Faculty of Social Sciences, now, Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences, Federal University, Dutsin-ma. His engagements with these organizations have afforded him the privileges of leadership; servant-leadership at that, and he has developed a capacity to multi-task and manage stress as well as effective interpersonal communication skills. He is good at producing creative approaches to obtain effective and efficient results that count.Ishaya’s professional interests are in leadership, environmental sustainability, health, and well-being. He is an avid researcher and public speaker who has facilitated more than 20 speaking engagements on environmental sustainability, Sustainable Development Goals, and health and well-being in Nigeria and beyond. He is of the firm belief that the grassroots solutions that can be provided through leadership, critical thinking, and logical analysis is enormous and when cumulated, they leave a global lasting impact on the territory and its adjoining areas.He seeks to further his impact on the health and well-being of the neglected rural poor through environmental sustainability advocacy and further studies in global leadership and public health.
