In 2013 with a burning desire to take matters of discrimination into my own hands, I assembled a small team and started Perception Foundation – with the aim to restore basic human rights to every citizen in Bangladesh. The primary concern of the organization is providing education to all and establishing a proper balance between the different socioeconomic classes, and protecting the rights of the minorities.

As a student coordinator for the Student-Organization center (SOC), I was responsible for advocating school policies to 350+ student organizations by conducting monthly presentations, having smaller more intimate breakout sessions, and answering phone and email. I was responsible for managing operating funding requests from the student organizations under SOC and also co-led SOFAB – a board of five student leaders given the roles to allocate UTD event funds to student-led organizations.

My role as the "Traditions Event-Coordinator" at The University of Texas at Dallas was to host campus-wide events considered traditions at UTD. I organized more than 10 events across campus and had the privilege of being one of the main coordinators for our Homecoming festival & concert — "Homefest featuring Cometstreet." During the job, I had to come up with new event ideas every month that could potentially become traditions at UTD. And one of my most sustained impact during my time at SUAAB is my brainchild, Comet-Day — a school-wide spirit day festival in collaboration with 10+ departments across campus. The event is currently a well-accepted tradition at UTD taking place every year mid-fall semester averaging an attendance of 500+ students.SUAAB allowed me to plan, organize, coordinate, and host events from scratch teaching me a great deal about interacting with people of different backgrounds. From interacting with students & staff members to booking independent business owners and vendors to having meetings with the Dean of Student Affairs, my perception regarding social interactions quickly matured. Having hosted at least one event per month, including a phenomenal one-on-one session with Hassan Minhaj on stage, I was able to come out of my shell and embrace my personal public speaking style.
