About Isik Ates Kiral, Ph.D.

Dr. Kiral completed his Ph.D. at Bogazici University Civil Engineering program and have been continuing the academic activities for about ten years. He completed master degree on M.Sc. Construction Project Management program at the University of Manchester. In his master thesis, he measured the suitability of the risk identification techniques throughout the lifecycle of construction projects at the Civil Engineering Department of the University of Manchester. Later on, he wrote a Ph.D. thesis on developing a model to evaluate the effectiveness of virtual construction safety training tools, which involves innovative methods in data analysis such as eye tracking metrics. So, as some of the most important areas of Construction Project Management, he specializes in Risk Management, Project Planning and Control, Organizational Development, Contract Management and Occupational Health and Safety. Moreover, he published three SCI-E journal papers, ten international, one national conference proceedings and one book chapter. In addition to his academic career, Dr. Kiral also worked as a planning engineer at ENKA and thus, had the opportunity to improve his implicit knowledge in the industry and specialized in planning via Primavera and MS Project. In his ten-year professional career, he worked as a project assistant in two different Scientific Research Projects (BAP), a developer in his own project, a research assistant at Bogazici University for five years, a visiting assistant professor at Altinbas University for a year and assistant professor at Istinye University for 3.5 years. Also, he worked at several admisitrative roles at Istinye University such as Vice Dean and Head of Civil Engineering Department. Due to his work experience and academic studies in the construction industry, he has knowledge and experience in analyzing construction risks, developing games, designing worker health and safety training, developing serious game-based training methods, measuring and evaluating peripheral vision level of construction workers, analyzing critical factors affecting occupational health and safety, creating a work schedule, analyzing building costs, conducting earned value management, creating specific contracts in construction projects, providing organizational and people-oriented development and other related areas of construction project management. Currently, he works as assistant professor at Bursa Technical University and visiting lecturer at Medipol University.
