ISLA – International Smart LAb is an Italian NGO composed of a multidisciplinary group of researchers specialized in Engineering, Architecture, Urban and Regional Planning, Geology, Mapping Systems and Renewable Energy. The mission of ISLA is the development and testing of projects, policies and innovative technologies, in close collaboration with several international partners (University, Centre of Research, Sme, NGO, Public Administration). Main fields of interest:• Seismic, hydrogeological and environmental risk (analysis and mitigation of main risk factors, detection of the monitoring and alarm systems).• Urban and regional planning of complex systems (common and participatory planning, with particular attention to the dynamics of regional and inter-municipality complex systems).• Smart cities/polis and smart risk management (development of systems and smart technologies applied to the city and the territory, and vision of smart polis, thinking not only in terms of urban, peri-urban and non-urban, but extending the application to the entire public sphere at urban and territorial level, including the involvement of key stakeholders through participatory events).• GIS systems (management of geographic information systems through Web-GIS).• International research and design (organization and participation in calls, competitions, conferences, meetings national/European and international cooperation).
