I worked for Space Engineering Services as lead Engineer on my home the Isle of Wight, employed on the ‘Sainsbury’s’ contract but where the island is a remote location I was tasked with ensuring that service jobs are completed across the Tesco and Key accounts (Morrisons and Waitrose) contracts also. That brought new demands as I had to liaise with three line managers and try to ensure that the requests of all three are satiated in the best possible way. As the lead engineer on the island I was the first point of contact for SES and I have an excellent working relationship with all store managers, which gives them the confidence they need that problems will be solved even when parts delivery etc can be more than a day away. I find my attention to detail and prior planning helped achieve this.Day to day I also organized and prioritized the work load on the island and distributed the work according to skill level to either myself or my recently qualified colleague.I also managed the PPM’s for the Island contracts and we carried out the works ourselves, ensuring that the work was to (my) high standard. This not only reduces cost to the company’s labour budget, but also dramatically reduces the amount of call outs to systems. We worked pro-actively and since I joined the company I significantly reduced the amount of calls.
