There exists a need to serve immigrants who from fear of stigma, language barriers, or otherwise, are an underserved community. I plan to create a mobile clinic in which to provide on-site medical services. I will seek insurance contracts with land owners and in this way patients will not worry financially and will gain access to a Spanish speaking doctor. I have worked in various roles including consumer electronics, education, and behavioral health. I believe the greatest thing we can do is be kind to one another. In my time in retail I learned a great deal of patience and understanding. People want to be treated with respect and want their time and budget valued and appreciated. But it's not just about making sure every demand is met. It's about connecting with a real person and being authentic and genuine. We as people seem to forget at times that we are all living our personal journey, and we all just want a bit of love in the process. Working with high schoolers and young adults showed me new levels of empathy. It's easy to forget how much young minds need nurturing, especially if one was void of nurture themselves. I taught high school kids drumline for over four years. You learn to value everyone's differences and respect their opinions, but you also are made responsible for their success and ultimate outcome. With that same respect, I worked as a math tutor at Napa Valley College. I was able to witness the transformation from fear and loathing to love and excitement, with fellow students achieving success in a field they once dreaded.Working with adults with developmental disabilities has by far been my greatest experience to date. There is no greater feeling than sharing love with someone who due to their disabilities is non-verbal and unable to express themselves fluently. Human energy is real and should never be taken for granted. I hope to always live, learn, and love as much as I can. Always lend a helping hand.
