I am an IT Project engineer working within the building moves and infrastructure project within the houses of parliament. The main aim for myself and the project overall is to deliver new or renovated buildings to a modern-day standard which can be utilised by many different stakeholders. I am involved with varying stakeholders to make sure the project is delivered. Some tasks include.- Collaborating with building managers to advise on efficient IT work stations taking into consideration the end users’ needs and the amount of space available. - Understanding and implementing budgeting within my scope of the project such as understanding and suggesting cost effective IT kit or refurbishing existing IT hardware. - Working alongside the networking team to create a robust and effective IT infrastructure network within new and refurbished buildings, this involves patching wired connections, creating efficient WiFi networks through wireless access points and maintaining best practices throughout. - Creating documentation and being involved in meetings once projects have concluded so we can have a better understand of what issues occurred and what we can do next to improve on this. this involves detailed conversations with numerous stakeholders and end users.
