In 2004 Isobel established proAGtive, the only business in Australia purely focusing on family farm business succession planning. She has worked closely with hundreds of individual farming families and continues to deliver targeted workshops to farmers all over Australia. Many have now been helped to prepare their families and their businesses effectively for the future ensuring strong family relationships, profitable businesses and opportunity for the next generation.Isobel believes 100% of family farm businesses must prepare early; only about 10% seek help. She wants succession planning to be affordable, accessible and flexible to meet the needs of today’s farming families. Isobel hopes to inspire farming families to start the succession planning process early. She believes this will see more young people return to family farm businesses helping to sustain and create stronger, more vibrant rural communities and have farming families remain the stewards of Australia's agricultural land.

  Isobel Knight is the owner/director of Proagtive from a farming family, married into a farming family business and in balance with her tertiary qualifications has experienced first hand her own succession planning processes. In 2004 Proagtive was founded and hundreds family businesses to date have contracted Proagtive to take them through a process of succession. In addition Proagtive have worked with numerous corporate, industry groups, Landcare groups to educate and increase the level of awareness and understanding of succession.The key driver of the business has been to encourage family business to be proactive and start this process early. Our business is about working with families in a professional and positive manner so that agricultural farming businesses can viably transfer to our next generation and maintain harmonious family relationships.Isobel is skilled, trained and qualified to not only develop workshops, she and her team are also qualified to facilitate business owners and family members through a facilitated process of succession and management transition planning.
