• I oversaw the daily planning, maintenance and management of the Scottish Pallet Network Fleet.• Accountable for ensuring that customer needs and deadlines are met while business requirements and costs are monitored to the highest standards.• This role also required hourly management of other planning staff as well as drivers to ensure daily operations both in the warehouse and on the road were performing as planned.• I was to ensure the smooth running of the fleet during periods of funding cuts - successfully keeping the business operating.

Aberdeen

• Responsible for the efficient running of the Marine Agency Department serving our British and Norwegian clients across their various projects around the world.• I was given overall control of the supervision and guidance of all agency staff across Africa in order to ensure our operational requirements were always met.• I always ensured that services remained at a high standard and keeping our clients well informed of the all developments.• I acted as the main point of contact for clients, to follow and accurately co-ordinate their operations from start to finish.• I was required to keep costs monitored and controlled throughout the various projects – reporting any issues or potential changes to the planned project costs.• I represented the company in business meetings with clients and partners in order to plan new projects and well as assess progress or new approaches required for current operations.• Using initiative, I provided market research of local shipping business which convinced the managing directors to set up a new local Agency division in Aberdeen. I used my experience and expertise to ensure we had the correct legal/corporate paperwork in place in order to set up this new venture.

• Responsible for the allocation and logistical routing of the Company Fleet.• This required me to route effectively in order to meet the clients’ requirements as well as saving costs on fuel and other avoidable or needless expenses.• This role was highly demanding with a need to be able to react quickly to sudden changes or issues that may arise through the course of a day.• I monitored the Quality Control of vehicle loads within the yard in order to ensure that they fully conformed to standards of Health & Safety as well as Government Legislation.• I was pivotal in changing the quality control procedures. This made processes quicker, more effective and better accounted for - which made overall workloads in the office, yard and warehouse more efficient going forward.

• Responsible for the care and service of tanker, cruise and dry cargo projects calling to ports around Scotland.• I ensured that operational requirements were met for all stakeholders from the ship captain, the crew to the ship’s owner, port as well as buyers and sellers of each relevant cargo.• I monitored port arrangements and financial requirements for each project.• I always ensured the highest standard of organisation of vessel/cargo paperwork and timely reporting of any issues to owners and other interested parties.• I was at times required to be a mediator between parties when disputes were lodged. Often requiring me to present the full situation, reasons for any problems occurring and the best solutions available.• I had the opportunity to work across the country and gain enough experience to become a key member of the Scottish Agency Area. I also latterly became a trainer and supervisor for newer Agency Operators.
