“Art is not what you see, it’s what you make others see” – Edgar Degas, French artist I've lived my professional design career with these words in mind while making custom designs for some of the biggest names in hospitality, senior living and retail. Carpet is just carpet and a backdrop for an interior space. However, in my line of work custom carpet can be an art piece on the floor. My main weapon of choice to achieve this is Tapistron/CYP (Computerized Yarn Placement) this machine gives me the freedom of creating beautiful designs with a tapestry look and a wide range of colors. I've been designing for Tapistron/CYP for over 7 years; making patterns for hotels and resorts all over the world such as Marriott, Hilton and Four Seasons. Fun projects for Disney resorts, the 2016 movie Passengers and the Abu Dhabi International Airport. Designs for retail stores like  Maurice's, Victoria Secret and Louis Vuitton. I've also done collections to show at BDNY and HD Vegas shows throughout the years. Even though these projects were fun they were very tough and teamwork, commitment and a splash of ingenuity definitely helped a lot. Furthermore, with these projects being custom designs I needed to work on different programs in order to get the best results possible and show it to our clients. My choices for this are Texcelle for designing, AutoCAD for floor plans to show how the design layouts on the building and Easy Map for 3D renders of a space. Having knowledge with Adobe software such as Ilustrator and Photoshop definitely makes it easy to add a few effects to designs whenever is needed. I'm very passionate about carpet, to me carpet makes a room come alive and sets it apart. I love being able to work with creative people that like me pour their heart and soul into a project. If I'm not spending time with my family or watching Formula 1 you can find me designing patterns or trying to figure out how to make a custom project work.
