Hello! I'm Issam, a CompSci & Stats UofT student with an AI focus. Throughout my academic journey, I've had the opportunity to learn and work on a variety of AI topics, including Neural Networks and Computer Vision.During my exchange semester at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, I further honed my skills in Machine Learning and NLP. These experiences have paved the way for my current interests in multimodal learning and generative AI.As an R&D Software Engineer Intern at Trend Micro, I apply my ML expertise to enhance network security solutions and detect emerging threats. I'm fine-tuning models and integrating AI-powered components into existing security products.As a Lead Researcher at the Dynamic Graphics Project Lab, I developed a Large Language Model based method to enhance the accuracy of eye and mouse tracking analysis in usability research. I deployed a web app incorporating GPT-4, LlamaIndex, and LangChain for user interaction analysis, which is being compiled into a research paper for CHI 2024.I am experienced in various programming languages, including Python, Java, and C/C++, and have hands-on experience with libraries like PyTorch, NumPy, and Scikit-learn.My projects have centered on practical ML applications, such as improving news categorization and sentiment analysis accuracy, optimizing pose estimation in action classification and future pose regression, and analyzing large datasets to drive strategic decisions.I am eager to apply my passion for AI and problem-solving skills to a challenging role in ML research, particularly in multimodal learning and generative AI.
