    Generation Y, born between 1980 and 2000, is the generation that grew up in a world overflowing with possibilities, a world without boundaries. Because of this they have created a certain ‘new’ mentality, a certain way of thinking. A main cause of this change in mentality is due to upbringing, where we went from ‘work hard and succeed’ to ‘do something that makes you happy’. Education also contributed to this change seeing that this generation has mainly learned to work independently and to be self-confident (“everyone is a winner”). Unfortunately we often see that this mentality of generation y is not always in line with the current way of working in organizations. Millennials do not feel enough challenge, are eagerly seeking recognition and appreciation and want to be involved in the strategy and vision of the company. On the other hand they can also be a little too confident, want to have everything way too fast and are prone to stress and burnout. I believe that generation y can be of immense value for your business, if, however, a clear mentality gap is bridged. I help organizations and managers to find and create this value by making the connection between the mentality and needs of generation y, and those from the organization.
