About I-Ting Ho

PhD in Mechanical, Material, and Aerospace engineering Dept., Illinois Institute of Technology and currently work in the University of Arizona as a Researcher Scientist and Lab manager in the NewFoS center at the University of Arizona. Specializing in Non-destructive evaluation (NDE) via X-ray CT and topological acoustics (TA) and Additive Manufacturing, including laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF) and direct energy deposition (DED), of superalloys. My PhD research mainly focuses on applying various inoculant particles including oxides, borides, and intermetallic micron or submicron-sized particles to reduce anisotropy and crystallographic texture present within the superalloys processed by L-PBF via heterogeneous nucleation and local variations in thermal history. My postdoctoral work extends to the microstructural analysis using various techniques including SEM, EPMA, EBSD, and XRD under the supervision of Prof. Sammy Tin in Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Arizona. Currently, I closely work with Dr. Pierre Deymier and Dr. Krishna Muralidharan to combine the non-destructive inspection techniques including microCT and ultrasound to evaluate the defect and inclusions in the additively manufactured materials, and expect to apply such techniques to more advanced inspection of microstructure such as grain boundaries using ultrasound at GHz range.
