Asst. Director Of Integrated Communications And Marketing For Social Media
Asst. Director Of Integrated Communications & Marketing For Social Media
I develop the strategy for and manage day-to-day operations of Southern’s official social media channels, including Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, and Linked In. As part of a team-based leadership collaborative, I also advise the Director of ICM on brand development, audience segmentation, core message deployment, and marketing recruitment best practices for these platforms as part of the university's strategic communications plan. In my spare time, I also co-manage a team of student content producers and managers with the video and photography teams to brainstorm and execute creative, culturally-aware visual experiences that support community-building, retention, and enrollment needs for the university.
Adjunct Faculty
I teach First Year Experience with a thematic focus on social media's role in the higher ed student experience. As part of Southern's FYRE program, inquiry-based learning and research skills development are deeply embedded within the course's curriculum, culminating in an end of semester poster presentation.
Public Relations Associate
As the lead public relations contact at Naugatuck Valley Community College, I was responsible for traditional news reporting and media relations activities, including attending and reporting on NVCC accomplishments and activities, developing media kits, newsletters and annual reports, serving as liaison to local media, and making recommendations to improve communications and the College’s public image. I also served as the College’s Website Content Manager for news and all non-academic information, which includes maintaining an inventory of all content on nv.edu, learning and training staff members on the site’s content management system (CMS), reviewing and approving content as it goes live, maintaining a basic understanding of HTML and CSS coding, evaluating, learning and implementing modules on the site, and creating and sustaining vibrant, dynamic college landing pages and major content areas. In addition, I populated and oversaw the College’s social media sites, ensuring that up-to-date information was available for a number of different audiences. One of my final accomplishments streamlined news reporting with outcomes reporting for the College's strategic plan on the website: nv.edu/strategic
