I do this through short-term engagements, and I'm going to make courses and playbooks to scale this knowledge too.If you’re serious about taking your lifecycle to the next level, reach out and we'll chat. -

Senior Growth ManagerTitan Aug 2021 - Mar 2023New York, New York, UsTitan is a premier investment firm for everyone. -
Lifecycle Marketing ManagerOpendoor Jun 2018 - Aug 2021San Francisco, California, UsI started at Opendoor when we were in 10 markets and a private company, and left when we were in 41 markets and public. During that time, I strategized, executed, and shipped a ton of lifecycle marketing work.I mapped our entire end-to-end customer lifecycle for the seller and buyer sides of the business. Created the source of truth for all of our time-based, triggered, and transactional messages. And most importantly, built dozens of automated flows from beginning to end across email, SMS, and push, moving over ten metrics that drive the business forward. Our small-but-mighty lifecycle team partnered with eng, creative, research, and data science to consistently drive 50% of Opendoor's repeat contracts through our personalized reengagement emails, resulting in billions for the company. We also had a lot of fun along the way, and ate way too much Susiecakes. -
Co-FounderOttomate Feb 2018 - Jun 2018San Francisco, California, UsOttomate provides lifecycle marketing / customer journey / marketing automation services for tech-savvy companies. We help build a great customer journey, and automate it.My friend Logan and I started Ottomate together because we love growing businesses on autopilot. We had the pleasure of working with the leading community for modern sales professionals, a two-sided real estate investment marketplace, and a fast growing e-commerce startup.I wrote our website, co-created our process, and handled the strategy side for our clients.https://www.ottomateagency.com/ -
Senior Manager, Content MarketingAutopilot Hq Sep 2016 - Mar 2018Sydney, New South Wales, AuAutopilot is visual marketing software for automating the entire customer journey. Named one of the top 10 fastest growing SaaS companies, Autopilot serves thousands of customers globally including Microsoft, Atlassian, Lyft, Patreon, and Samsung. Together, our marketing team grew the company from 0 to 3,000 paying customers in 3 years. I owned our content strategy, roadmap, and execution that fueled organic traffic, generated leads, and won customers.I was also the interviewer in Patreon's customer story below. -
Customer And Content MarketerAutopilot Hq Mar 2015 - Sep 2016Sydney, New South Wales, AuMy first day was March 2, 2015, the day we launched Autopilot to the world. I was hired to write three blog posts a week about analytics, landing pages, A/B testing, SEO, SEM, copywriting, demand generation, lead nurturing, growth marketing, and the customer journey...to market a marketing software to marketers. So meta. I also wrote customer stories, was one of the main writers for Autopilot's Flight School, and built a team of solid freelance writers to scale our content program. -
MarketerDayspring Technologies, Inc. Jul 2013 - Feb 2015San Francisco, California, UsI did a handful of different things at Dayspring.I primarily worked on Goodbudget, a budgeting app for iPhone, Android, and the web. My favorite project was re-doing our app store optimization from the ground up. I had no idea what I was doing, but I figured out how to do it and the rankings jumped for our target keywords. Last time I checked, if you type "budget" into the app store, Goodbudget is above Mint. I wrote the copy for the 1224 Studios website, Dayspring's small business website design arm. In less corporate speak, Janet and I worked on websites together. I wrote copy, she designed. I also wrote stuff for Dayspring Consulting Services sometimes. -
Customer AdvocateKarani For Fundraising Feb 2013 - Feb 2015Chicago, Il , UsI'll always treasure my time working for Karani. It's a CRM for fundraisers that was created by my friend Matt Stauffer while he worked full-time on his web development agency. The company brought in enough cash money to hire me part-time to do lots of stuff...Onboard new customers with one-on-one walkthroughs. Answer customer support requests. Make product suggestions based on user feedback. Report bugs to the development team. Keep the user guide updated. Know Karani inside and out.I also set up my first email onboarding series in this role. I used Intercom, which I thought was the coolest thing...until I found Autopilot. My onboarding series was mostly time-based. Send an email on day 3, day 7, day 14, day 21, and day 30. Nothing fancy, but it brought me one step closer to learning how to automate the entire customer journey. -
Social Media StrategistUser10 Aug 2012 - May 2013Phoenix, Arizona, UsUser10 was my first retainer freelance gig. The illustrious Jonathan Cottrell hired me to write blog posts and Facebook updates and Twitter tweets. In hindsight, I really had no idea what I was doing. At the time, I thought I did, which is even funnier. This role seeded the idea that content marketing might be my thing. -
Brand AmbassadorZipcar Sep 2012 - Oct 2012Boston, Massachusetts, UsI was that guy on the corner of Market and Montgomery selling Zipcar memberships.Hey, I had to pay bills. -
Chief Eating OfficerFoodster Dec 2010 - Oct 2012Flagstaff, Arizona, UsRemember that Greek dude I told you about? A designer friend and I went on to make his partner a menu. I also landed the most trendy restaurant in Flagstaff as a client, but the owner turned out to be the cheapest dude in the world. And I won't even go into my "I'll make your website for free" story for the candy shop downtown. -
Campus Staff MemberIntervarsity Christian Fellowship/Usa Jul 2007 - Jul 2012Madison, Wi, UsInterVarsity is the kind of job where you have a lot of jobs....public speaker, fundraiser, trainer, mentor, facilitator. It's a jack-of-all-trades kind of deal. This role actually got me started in marketing. I sent out a monthly email newsletter with Mailchimp to keep donors updated on my work. I learned how people read on the web, practiced writing enjoyable copy, and thought of clever ways to engage my subscribers. The cheesiest (but most effective) thing I did was including a "shout outs" section in my email newsletter, then writing on people's Facebook wall telling them I mentioned them. It worked like a charm.
