Braxton is a Los Angeles based writer and Pop Tart fiend. She grew up in Washington, D.C. as the only child of a police officer and Social Security lawyer; So, of course she decided to become a professional dancer. While performing gave Braxton a lifetime of stories to write about, including two spontaneous dance-offs, she retired from Broadway to find a career that was gentler on her hamstrings. As she was planning her next career move, she fell in love with TV writing after taking a class for fun. She loves writing television comedies about high-functioning, dysfunctional people and creating stories and sketches that center Black woman and find levity in unexpected places. Braxton has written and performed for comedy powerhouse The Second City and has penned YouTube episodes for Barbie, Peacock Kids and Rainbow High. She most recently became a writing cohort at Mara Brock Akil’s “Writer’s Colony.” And although she has been a semi-finalist for NBC Writers On The Verge, Austin Film Festival and the Harvardwood Writer’s Competition, her mom reminds her weekly that it’s never too late to go to law school.- Braxton is repped by Echo Lake Entertainment.
