Wesley King is a native of Tuscaloosa, AL. He attended The University of Alabama where he majored in Vocal/Choral Music Education. While at the Capstone he was a three-time winner of the AMEA Young Composer Award. He also was an Honorable Mention winner for the MTNA Young Composer competition. After graduating, he moved to Nashville, TN where he now lives and works as a freelance musician. He has been seen on many music and theatre stages around Nashville. He is also the new Artistic Director of Nashville in Harmony, Nashville’s almost 20-year old LGBTQ+Ally chorus. As a published composer, his work for choir, band, and orchestra has been heard across the Southeast. As a songwriter, especially in Musical Theatre, his songs have been sung at 54 Below and the Highline Ballroom in New York City, as well as the Catalina Jazz Club in L.A. His most recent musical, "Ten Year" was recently produced in June 2022 with his writing partner Jacob Heinz, receiving multiple sold out performances. It later won the Southern Queer Playwriting Festival.In addition to music, Wesley has long worked in ministry, serving churches of many denominations as a director of music. Currently, he serves the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) at the denominational level as the Program Coordinator for New Church Ministry. He obtained his Certificate in Worship Leadership from Samford University and recently finished his Master of Divinity from Lexington Theological Seminary. While at LTS he received several awards for preaching and for his Capstone thesis. He is an ordained Disciples of Christ minister.Wesley resides in East Nashville with his husband Tyler who is an architect for Herbert Dooley Architects and their retired and rescued greyhound, Fuel.
