I oversaw the operational aspects of three Digital Realty Trust data centers in the San Francisco Bay Area, which were one of few neutral data centers operating in the San Francisco – Oakland locality. I supervised all aspects of the MEP for the three buildings, owned the customer relationships, and adhered to numerous compliance requirements as mandated by customer and company requirements. Challenges existed at these facilities with large footprints, big budgets and multiple complex MEP systems across the three sites. We established resource sharing protocols for staffing which allowed the cross training of the staff across the properties and effectively reduced spending.

I was entrenched in the conversation of a carrier hotel to a data center property, a construction project that required nine months to complete. I established the security design system for the property and space planned the customer data halls in the building. I was responsible for the financial performance of the property, including budgeting, budget reforcasting, and financial reporting. I reviewed client contracts and authorized them to approve client deals.

I owned the delivery and removal of electrical and data circuits for the customers, which required the trending of electrical and data center equipment capacities.

I managed the late shift service personnel, which was responsible for emergency calls, outages, and scheduled appointments. Working in power plant operations was a natural transition from the operation of the engine room of a Navy ship.
