Michaud Assembly Facility

Currently a part of the SLS core stage rocket team as Engineering focal/lead for the buildup and integration of the main propulsion, thrust vector control and ancillary clean gas systems that support those higher systems. Additional responsibility as focal for the preparation and installation of the RS-25 main engines.

Huntsville, Alabama Area

As a titled Senior Engineer provide design and producibility guidance to the Space Launch System (SLS) Core Stage prime contractor The Boeing Company related to vehicle systems/hardware development. Directly involved in the following vehicle systems:Ground and flight umbilical interfaces.Systems integration activites related to Cryogenic Propulsion and Propellant Feed Systems, Thrust Vector Control, and Thermal Protective Systems.Position entails the review of CAD produced hardware designs, verification of GD&T, and integration of spacecraft components. Interface with the manfacturing engineers at the Michoud manufacturing facility (MAF) in New Orleans. Attend daily meetings, design reviews, and telecons with hardware vendors and suppliers. Attend meetings and tour vendor sites for production readiness reviews (PRR's).

Kennedy Space Center

Level-1 Vehicle Lead for Space Shuttle External Tank mechanical/thermal/pneumatic group. Position encompassed test, troubleshooting, and planning of subordinate activities in processing the ET from arrival at Kennedy Space Center through launch. Ensured final configuration and all technical requirements are met for the ET. Created management tools, spreadsheets, schedules etc, assigned personnel for program and company milestones. Processing included mechanical & electrical requirements, thermal protection systems applications (foams, ablators, carbon-fiber assemblies, thermal techniques). Certified for all major lift/mate maneuvers and integration of ET to the rest of the STS and PAD operations. Supported launch operations as a member of ice/frost team. Performed on PAD inspections during cryogenic load, download of imagery taken for Launch Team review. Participant in post launch imagery review and analysis of ET/SRB/Orbiter performance. Orchestrated and incorporated numerous real-time modifications to the ET under tight timelines. Coordinated facility maintenance activities and performed PM's for ET pneumatics clean gas systems. Created capability to perform ET thermal closeout activities at the PAD by incorporating a modified conex box to protect sensitive thermal materials. Fit onto PAD surface and the RSS to support several ET related modification efforts. Allowed for continued processing outdoors and prevented several untimely STS rollbacks to the VAB.Team member for LH2 umbilical vent "leak" effort. Led effort for the characterization of umbilical vent failures during cryogenic loading. Conducted GSE hardware mate and vehicle alignment checks at the vendor.Developed "how to" carry out plan to repair/modify the final 8 ET's intertank stringer fatigue issues in the VAB by extensively modifying the integration/test cells in the VAB to support contractor repair efforts.

Kennedy Space Center Hypergolic Maintenance Facility

Level-2 certified vehicle test lead for Space Shuttle Aft Propulsion Orbital Maneuvering System (OMS) for heavy maintenance and repair. Received, planned and delegated necessary relevant tasks to timely and accurately repair/maintain the OMS upon their arrival to the HMF. Responsible for verifying, customer technical requirements and final vehicle configuration. Planned and generated the necessary test plans and or procedures for major hazards. Mentored and trained junior engineering personnel. Supported milestone meetings and other duties as required. Managed facility needs whether modifications, and or annual maintenance cycles. Performed major testing duties from vehicle console via remote operations. Certified SCAPE operations test engineer. Reviewed, wrote engineering test procedures. Performed propellant systems functional testing and troubleshooting to the component level. Rocket engine testing and troublshooting to the component level.Additionally supported the Auxiliary Power Unit/Hydraulic Power Unit group (APU/HPU) during time constrained processing flows. Duties included removal and replacement of hardware, systems test, console firing room engineer during hypergolic propellant loading for Solid Rocket Booster (SRB) Hydraulic Power Unit (HPU) and Orbiter Auxiliary Power Unit (APU), conducted hot fire testing and launch preparations.

Kennedy Space Center

Company name in the beginning was Thiokol. Performed processing duties involving test, preparation and buildup of the Space Shuttle Solid Rocket Booster and processing of the External tank. Tasks involved structural installations, thermal applications, high pressure GN2/GHe gas systems testing. Performance of engineering driven activities/intepretation of mechanical/electrical/thermal systems drawings. Certifications include, HAZ MAT, ESD, Cryogenics, Ordnance handling and operations, application of thermal materials, confined space management, hazardous atmospheres management.From 1995-1997 technician for marine and booster retrieval ships. Retrieved, disassembled, and returned flown solid rocket boosters to ATK Utah for refurbishment and reuse.Major Accomplishment:Completed training in ordnance safing hypergol safing movement of large flight components and heavy ground support equipment. Use of hydrolazing/water jet equipment to remove high strength thermal materials, maritime operations, use of hypobaric chambers, ship operations/maintenance, and basic seamanship functions.

Orlando, Florida Area

Performed tasks with the buildup and final assembly of several DOD missile systems. Those to include Army and Navy missile systems such as (Patriot, Hellfire, SLAT, Copperhead missile systems). Specialized in ordnance handling, mechanical/electrical assembly and installation. Troubleshooting with engineering staff, performed tasks in support of static and live fire tesing.

Tinker Afb, Oklahoma

Stationed at USAF Tinker Air Force Base Air Logistics Center:Duties were to monitor the status and tracking of component repairs at both the depot, and maintenance squadron level in support of E3-A AWACS aircraft. Eventually led to working directly with the commander for AWACS maintenance and as a liason between contractor vendors, and USAF personnel during maintenance or modification campaigns.
