Primary Function: Supervises and delegates daily work of engine room personnel, engineers and crew. In charge of one shift and responsible for safe watchkeeping during this shift.Responsible for the daily maintenance and operations of the engineering and technical aspects of the vessel as directed by The Chief Engineer and Staff Chief Engineer- Directly responsible for all work performed in the engine room and for the maintenance of the main and auxiliary engines of the cruise ship- Supervises and works in close cooperation with the 2nd and 3rd engineers, engine cadet and engine ratings and also responsible for their on-the-job training, thus ensuring safe working conditions.- Scheduling and assigning the daily work of subordinate engineers and engine ratings, keeping track of their regular and overtime working hours, ensuring that all machinery, fighting and safety equipment within the engine room is working properly and according to the company standards and international safety regulations- Responsible for overseeing the bunkering of fuel and lubrication oil and transferring from the ship to a barge or shore based facilities of used oil, sludge and residual liquids used by the ship's engineering equipment

Has daily meetings with Chief Engineer regarding work items and occurrences. Responsible for the several log books to be kept. In charge of bunkering of fuel, lubricating oil, water.Supervises and checks maintenance and repair work by crew and contractors. Intervenes if necessary. Decides if parts have to be renewed or replaced. In major cases, consults Chief Engineer regarding this.Is capable of doing repair work himself, can troubleshoot problems in hydraulic, pneumatic and electric automatic systems.Assigns personnel to the several shifts. In charge of one shift. During his shift, he decides what to do at, and how to overcome, emergency situations.Monitors and, where necessary, adjusts all vital parameters/settings to obtain/maintain a safe and economical sailing.Is in charge of operation, maintenance and repairs of the machinery assigned to his watch. Supervises the engineers, fireman/greaser and wiper(s) assigned to his shift.Works in cooperation with personnel of deck and hotel department.Orders spare parts for the machinery assigned to his shift in cooperation with the Inventory Specialist.On Board: M/V Coral Princess, P&O Pacific Jewel

Responsibilities: Engineer Officer on Watch (Watch keeping) , safety engineer (safety device such as Co2 Release system, High Fog and Water Tight Door), Hotel Engineer ( Hotel Department such as Swimming Pool, Water Treatment and Galleys), Maintenance engineer ( assisting the 1st Senior Engineer Officer with Daily Maintenance) and environmental Engineer ( working in Environmental devices as Oil Water Separator, OPP Certificate, Centrifugal Oil Water Separator, and organize all the Certificate as per Marpol standard).On Board: M/V Coral Princess, M/V Golden Princess
