As the Director of Crystal Clear Solar, I started the company with two goals in mind... to build a business that has a social and environmental conscious! Exactly what does this mean? From the conception of the business I knew I wanted to build into my business model an obligation to do something for the community regardless of business profit margins or sales goals. Therefore from the beginning a commitment was made to donate 5% of all sales to charity. This commitment to ourselves ensure that socially we can hold our heads up high. So regardless of job size, we may donate $5 form a small residential clean or $500 from a large service contract! This little commitment alone gives me a smile each day!As for the environmental commitment, that is a whole lot easier as our business is all about the environment and ensuring that regardless of the investment size our customers made in Solar Energy, they are getting the maximum returns from the sun by ensuring their system is running at its optimum because it is perfectly clean.Many people have never even thought about cleaning their panels as they are under the misconception that they are self cleaning – the opposite is the truth! Dirt from the clouds andthe atmosphere like dust, oil etc. are absorbed by the rain and deposited on the panels. It is true that rain removes part of the existing dirt, but it also deposits new dirt on the surface. The effect is that some of the sunlight is stopped by that soilage and can no longer produce electrical energy. This build up of dirt, pollen, pollution, salt not to mention bird and bat droppings can reduce your solar panel efficiency by up to 30%. After all, can you imagine trying to drive your car after one year of no car washes or using the windshield wipers! You wouldn't even think about trying this stunt after only 6 months! So did the rain clean your car and windshield? The same is true of your solar panels.
