I m a registered professional civil engineer in the state of Alaska with nearly 25 years experience relating to large scale mining and industrial civil development projects. My primarily focus is mine reclamation and closure design, closure cost estimating and water management planning and design. I have worked throughout Alaska, Canada, central Asia and many other sites around the globe with similar unique cold region challenges for closure and water management.Mine closure is a diverse topic which requires interaction between all disciplines involved in mine development and operations. I find mine closure both challenging and fascinating due to the complexity of interactions required between disciplines.I have developed, updated or reviewed nearly every mine closure plan in the state of Alaska, and also developed estimates for most all operating mines and advanced exploration projects in AK. My expertise also includes cost trade-off studies, feasibility and, pre-feasibility studies relating to closure, surface water management design and planning, and lastly environmental permit compliance, application and updates. In addition, I manage and update many mine closure estimates for financial assurance, asset retirement obligations and life of mine accounting compliance.
