I am a lawyer with an extensive experience in programme management and legal affairs. Following my first international engagement with the UN, I have been managing different UNDP portfolios on knowledge and project management, policy, partnerships and water and sanitation governance. My professional interests range from fundamental aspects of sustainable development to water, sanitation and hygiene. I hold Master degree in EU Law and am fluent in French, English and Serbian. In 2012 I joined UNDP Global Water Solidarity (GWS) with an objective to advocate for the explicit links between water and development and to support the water goal to be a central focus of the new 2030 agenda. While being of a strong belief that the key water global challenges should inform the new sustainable development framework, I was fortunate to directly experience the important role local communities and authorities play in contributing to development objectives in general and water security in particular. Naturally, I became passionate about shifting that voice from local towards the global agenda. To that extent the goal 6 and the integrated and inclusive approach, suggested to drive its implementation by the 2030 agenda, came as the most rewarding outcome to the WASH community of practice I feel part of.I am very steamed up to support within my current portfolio some of the most complex necessities of our joint commitments towards the 2030 deadline. Socially equitable, environmentally sustainable and economically efficient governance of water service delivery along with the WASH regulatory tools we are building together hold the key for successful delivery in the WASH sector. While the importance of our actions is very high, our responsibility and hardship in taking up the new challenges goes even beyond our sector. It spreads over other development axes that water and sanitation is supposed to be mainstreamed through. With water and climate change being so closely interlinked most of the mitigation, adaptation or resilience actions can only be successful if water is part of its planning and implementation processes.
