This internship position consisted in both desk reviews and architectural survey of the Master Shipwright’s Residence in Port Arthur, Tasmania, Australia, at the Department of Conservation and Infrastructure of PAHSMA. The outcome was a written report on the analysis of the documentary record, conservation and interpretation interventions and policies for this heritage-listed site, equipped with a practise-oriented protocol for future architectural surveys.

As a freelance architect, certified by the Chamber of Architects in Bulgaria, I have had the chance to work both privately and as a team member in all phases of the planning, consultation and supervision of architectural projects for residential, public and industrial buildings. I have also been actively involved with projects on architectural conservation, restoration and adaptive re-use of heritage listed sites in Bulgaria.In 2014, I have started a private architectural practice, ENARCH Ltd., based in Bulgaria, for planning of and consultation on both architectural and cultural heritage-related projects. In my designs, I seek ways to integrating traditional knowledge about vernacular building techniques with contemporary design, and to useing natural materials as a means for achieving a more sustainable built environment and ways of living at large, healthier microclimate and transmission of cultural identity.

The National Institute of Immovable Cultural Heritage of Bulgaria is a specialised agency of the Ministry of Culture - the main governmental authority, which deals with legislation and statutory protection of all heritage-listed sites in the country. The Institute evaluates all development and conservation projects that may have either a direct or an indirect impact on such sites.My main activities and responsibilities: - identification, assessment, study, registration and legislation of heritage-listed sites; - consultant for private developers on the matters of statutory protection of heritage sites and the specific building regulations in historic urban cores and architectural reserves.
