My research combines experimental work (design, commissioning, performance testing, experimentation with different fuels, oxygen carrier bed materials and reactor designs) and modelling and analytical research (thermodynamic modelling, material characterization). My primary focus is to determine the implications of biomass alkali emissions in the context of Chemical Looping Combustion (CLC) technology. Some of my research achievements so far include:- Development of a surface ionization detector (SID)-based system for measurement of gaseous alkali emissions- First characterization of gas phase alkali emissions in Chemical Looping Combustion technology- Commissioning and start-up of a new 10 KW Solid Fuels Chemical Looping pilot reactor

Effectively managed contractors (20+) and operations staff (10+) in executing critical technical field work.• Successfully led a plant-wide N2/He hydrocarbon leak testing program, achieving the significant safety milestone of a hydrocarbon leak-free pant start-up• Realized $10+ million in cost savings as well as multi-week start-up schedule acceleration by identifying and resolving multiple key start-up issues dealing with product sampling, risk of solvent back flow, product quality, solvent system capacity limitations, and froth filtration issues. -
