I am continually looking to improve my industry knowledge and skills as a successful estimator and manager in civil/general construction. My experience includes estimating and constructing projects throughout British Columbia, Canada and the Western United States. Past projects successfully tendered and constructed includes all forms of municipal construction, including roadworks, deep and shallow utility construction, sanitary lift stations, water treatment plants, water wells, and reservoirs. Heavy Civil and highway construction with The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure. Trenchless construction including, pipe ramming, auger boring, TBM, microtunneling and down the hole hammer. I have constructed estimating libraries including, equipment, labour, and activity code books with multiple estimating software's.As a heavy civil estimator, I am responsible for accurately estimating the costs of construction projects in the heavy civil sector. This includes projects such as highways, bridges, airports, dams, and other large-scale infrastructure developments. I maintain a deep understanding of construction methods, materials, and labour requirements, as well as the ability to analyze project specifications and blueprints. I prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects. This involves conducting comprehensive quantity take-offs, which involves quantifying all the materials, labour, and equipment necessary for the project. To prepare accurate estimates I source pricing information from various suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring that all costs are accounted for. Considering factors such as inflation, market conditions, and project schedule when determining costs. Additionally, I track, research, and analyze historical data from similar projects to make informed cost predictions/budgets.Effective communication skills are vital, and I often work closely with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and clients. This includes presenting and explaining my estimates, addressing any questions or concerns, and negotiate pricing with suppliers and subcontractors.Overall, my role in the construction industry is to provide accurate cost estimates that guide project planning, budgeting, and decision-making. This ensures that construction projects are financially viable and can be completed within budget.
