Led a team of engineers in developing a Spring Boot application to stream real-time GPS data from 320 million vehicles per day into Hadoop that is backed by RabbitMQ.Worked with a group of engineers to replace a currently running platform for streaming trip data. The new implementation uses Spring Cloud Stream, Gemfire, and Greenplum. Spring Cloud Stream is used a messaging system backed by Kafka to perform calculations in stream and process trips at a rate of 1000 trips per second. The trip data is enriched with geospatial data. These customized geospatial enrichments are optimized for speed allowing all location information for a 200 mile trip to be done within minutes. We can perform data analytics on 800,000 trips in a matter of seconds.Collaborated with engineers to build the supporting infrastructure for this new platform to run on. The infrastructure runs on AWS Cloud Computing Services. Infrastructure as code allowed much of this infrastructure to be created and tore down as simply and easily as possible. This also allows much of this process to be automated. Hashicorp Terraform was the technology brought in to write scripts to build the infrastructure with code. Much of the infrastructure needed to be tuned for memory, networking, CPU usage, and much more so a lot of work was done using UNIX tools to get metrics.
