Ivan is an applied scientist working within the Sports Technology and Strength and Conditioning research groups at the Sports Performance Research Institute New Zealand (SPRINZ). Ivan completed his integrated Master’s degree in Kinesiology (major: Sport Science and Strength & Conditioning) at the University of Zagreb (Croatia). Following six years of education, and simultaneous work as a sport scientist and a strength and conditioning coach (mostly in football), Ivan undertook a few research stays in Europe and the United States. After that, Ivan was awarded the Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship to pursue his doctoral degree at AUT. His PhD project focused on a better understanding of fatigue from physiological, psychological and biomechanical perspectives for the purpose of optimising resistance training monitoring and prescription practices. At the same time, Ivan also acts as a Research Fellow at AUT. His role revolves around directing sports technology and strength and conditioning research projects and teaching and supervising post-graduate students.
