In this position I was part of the commissioning and startup team (instrumentation) on the QCLNG site on Curtis Island. My role involved visual inspections, point to point testing, calibrating, loop checking and function testing of all instrumentation in the field as well as all interconnection wiring in the DCS including alarms signals and all associated record keeping and documentation. My role required me to work on many different types of equipment such as pressure transmitters, temperature elements & transmitters, flame and gas detectors, level and proximity sensors and flow meters. It was a challenging but very rewarding position where I utilised my skills to get work completed safely and efficiently.

I have recently worked in North West Queensland in George Fisher mine. The current project is the George Fisher expansion project. The scope of works consists of the building of an underground crusher plant, sky shaft and head frame, surface conveyors and associated works. To facilitate the project, a new 132kv switch yard and sub station was built and commissioned by Downer. Installations on the project will range from instruments on a 4-20mA system right up to the main winder motor of 11kv. Works to be completed during the project will vary from tray and pipework, cable installation, terminating and testing and commissioning as per engineers drawings.

In this position I worked for Downer full time. After 6 months probation I was hired by Downer as a full time employee.In this role, as a member of the site services team, our duty was to ensure safe and continuous electrical supply to mount Isa mines (surface). The role consisted mainly of preventative and scheduled maintenance of HV transformers, lines and associated equipment. Periodic inspections of transformers including ct and vt testing, Megger testing, temperature checks, oil checks and sampling.
