I feel passionate at transmitting my enthusiasm about creativity and innovation to fresh, smart and ambitious minds. I do not just share with them notions but rather I intend to stimulate their involvement with hands on experiences and real case studies. My vision of design and innovation is a mission that rather than developing luxury visual experiences offers everyone a better living condition despite their social background, aiming at a cohesive and integrated multicultural society. In a world aiming at a hyper-specialization of knowledge I believe the designer, on the contrary, plays a leadership role as an orchestral director. The co-creation at the interface between scientific and artistic disciplines will foster new perspectives.My research practice consists of creative works aiming at improve everyone quality of life through beauty and functionality, providing people with tools for personal discovery rather than products with a pre-defined narrative. Design for me is an open-ended solution customized through modularity and adaptation, where the role of the users as active creators of content, and not only as passive consumers, is essential. Modularity leaded me to reconsider the mathematical aspect of design while, living in an Islamic country, gave me the impulse to deepen the understanding of geometric subdivision of the plane and the space, using manual and digital techniques. Facing this topic at different scales, I realized how important design is for materials to stand new unexpected performances and applications. In an environment made of disposable full-scale architecture, I believe it is important to lead the trend towards the use of light structures, to avail a more sustainable resources’ management and cope with the transient nature of the contemporary public and private realm. Within such vision, the use of technology is essential as any other tool that could help dealing with the volatility, the uncertainty, the complexity and the ambiguity of the particular historical moment we are living in.In the last few years my focus was aiming at competitions and grants at regional and international relevance, quite often shortlisted and winning some of them. These opportunities offered me the chance to collaborate with experts and academics with a diverse background following unconventional research paths otherwise extremely rare in both commercial and academic industry. Some of the projects initiated as a competition lately received funds, giving birth to start-ups and entrepreneurial initiatives.
