Aviation planning is a career fundamentally tied to the betterment and improved longevity of our nation's aviation infrastructure. In this role, I have worked alongside a national team of planners, scientists, and professionals with vast field experience. By working at CHA, I have grown my capabilities in technical planning expertise, especially in working on wind analysis, lease policy inquiries, community impact studies, and airfield design. I have gained tremendous abilities in SketchUp, Adobe, CAD, Esri, and Autodesk programs. No institution is an island, and having worked at Ball State showcased the complex and evolving manners in which higher education organizations and a diverse community interact. In this role, I helped with the mutual exchange of knowledge and resources found between Ball State and its surrounding neighborhoods. In my time at this office, I was involved with projects spanning from in-person community tours to Qualtrics surveys. I have also provided technical and social support for ongoing Ball State projects. This role has increased my capabilities in collaboration, creativity, community outreach, adaptability, marketing, and empathy.

At 1st Maker Space, I worked as part of a motivated team that sought to install positive change for students and educators across Indiana through the creation of makerspaces. Makerspaces are an arena set aside in a given school or community context that allows room for tactile education, inherently involving teamwork, invention, and exploration. In my role, I created implementable 3D models in SketchUp of client spaces. To complete said work, I make edits of spaces with feedback from both the company President and clients themselves. In this role I exercised verbal and written communication skills, a strong attention to detail, and the ability to work to deadlines independently as well as part of a team. This position strengthened design abilities and allowed me to continue my passion for education.

In this contract role, I provided survey support to the czb team in efforts to survey and code properties throughout Delaware County. My prescribed duties involved tangibly visiting neighborhoods in an attempt to gather current conditions of housing units--placing them on a color coded scaling system. The end result is a comprehensive analysis of the housing stock in Delaware County. From there, the collected data can be compiled and used to showcase areas that may be in need of increased administrative efforts in the implemented Together DM Plan (Linked here: https://www.togetherdm.org/).

As I graduate assistant at Ball State University, I provided varying assistance to Urban Planning professors by guaranteeing open lines of communication and work expectations. Specifically, I was in charge of computer lab function and maintenance, largely focusing on undertaking administration programs to ensure properly operating and updated software. This position furthered my technical knowledge, while simultaneously allowing greater responsibility, time management skills, and independent task completion--all alongside a rigorous Masters program.

Green 3, LLC is an exciting firm that has greatly impacted my work experience and career outlook. While working here, I labored alongside architectural and American historians to ensure cultural resources are properly recorded following state procedures. This includes completing Historic Property Reports, historical descriptions of significant buildings, historic preservation plans, National Register Nominations, and photo cataloging. I also attend site visits and company meetings to assist in documenting cultural resources potentially affected by state-funded engineer projects across Indiana. This position allowed me to apply history to the present by acting to preserve significant sites, while also serving to perform administrative tasks essential to the company’s success. I was also able to assist in essential environmental work, such as that which revolves around NEPA functionality.

I was the first intern/ employee brought on by Thrive Nonprofit Solutions, a small non-profit, that assisted in defined duties in both the school year and summer. Here I researched grants and philanthropic funds for client non-profits to apply for, with the primarily patrons consisting of school districts. I also wrote and formulated grant proposals to fund community organizations, while also providing strategic plans when contracted. In addition, I contacted and communicated with Indianapolis based organizations and non-profits while working to bolster company goals and success. Thrive allowed me to grow immensely in individual project management, grant writing, research, working remotely, and company communication.

While serving a Resident Assistant in the Fairview Student House, I planned and coordinated unit activities that bolstered community growth and outreach. Further, I supported students in both their academic and personal lives--walking a line between authority and peer. I also provided a safe space where people could feel comfortable discussing matters with me while assisting in maintaining an over 300-student building. Serving on Resident Assistant Council, I helped make decisions on RA duties across the university. This experience presented a great chance to hone leadership abilities, as well as build strong connections with the people I worked with and led.

Being a camp counselor is both an extremely challenging job and a tremendously rewarding position. At YMCA Camp Campbell Gard, I oversaw the well-being and safety of campers ranging in age from six to sixteen of diverse physical and cognitive abilities. I worked to ensure a positive and fun camp experience that granted the children a safe place to be challenged by choice. I also orchestrated planned clinics and activities to foster growth of a skill, and developed activity curriculum to teach new abilities. My ultimate goal was to empower the children, all of distinct personal backgrounds, to grow while inspiring them to pursue life goals by being both an instructor and resource.

While working as a beach attendant at Mounds State Recreation Area on Brookville Lake I fulfilled many duties. I primarily helped maintain and address issues outside in the rugged environment of a state park in a rural setting. In addition, I enforced rules of the park, while coordinating with Conservation Officers and other key team members to ensure safety standards followed posted guidelines. I also assisted in ensuring patrons a pleasant experience by working alongside coworkers in the realm of customer service and personal interactions. Significant experience in teamwork, flexibility, and dealing with problems head-on was fostered in this position.

Here, I oversaw and directed the training of new employees that were brought on as it was a position with high turnover. In addition, I engaged in conversation with customers while bagging groceries. I also assisted in carrying items to the customer’s car, which fundamentally improved my interpersonal skills by holding conversations with patrons. I also stocked all shelfs in the store, and aided in essential store functions such as organization.
