Dr. Ivan Salmerón (B.S., Ph.D.) is a Lecturer-Researcher at the Autonomous University of Chihuahua in the School of Chemical Science. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in the University of Manchester UK in the School of Chemical Engineering and Analytical Science. Since his incorporation to the Autonomous University of Chihuahua in 2010 he has continued working in the area of research and development of food with functional properties especially in products design to promote the health of the gastrointestinal tract. He also works in the area of bioprocess engineering with a special attention in developing sustainable processes in the Agro-Industrial sector focusing in generating products of added value form there waste streams. He is a current member of the National Council of Science and Technology in Mexico.

Prove to have the ability to run the plant operations efficiently and safely promoting always the practice 5’s, GMP and HACCP methodologies. Organised and prepared the daily schedule so I could achieve the production requirements set by the company with the minimum wastage. Reviewed and ensured to have necessary supplies, raw materials and workers available so that the plant was operated as efficiently as possible. Ensured that employees had the training and resources needed to meet all requirements for safety, quality and production. Restructured the production schedule to accommodate special situations and communicated changes in routine to the front-line workers. Delegating my authority with success and having good communication with them. Developed accurate decision making skills as I decided when to order raw materials and when to bring in additional staff in order to keep production flowing. Evaluated and settled on whether raw material ingredients were in conditions to be processed.Encountered and solved problems such as equipments not functioning properly or product not meeting specifications. Observed and analysed, then made adjustments to the equipment or product mix in order to manufacture a quality product, directing solution procedures with technical staff and employees.
