Fundambras, established 1980, is the private pension fund offered to Anglo American and associated companies employees. Fundambras governance is composed of a Board and an Executive Committee, with a Fiscal Council responsible for internal controls. Fundambras in regulated and supervised by PREVIC, the Brazilian National Private Pension Fund Regulatory Agency (Superintendência Nacional de Previdência Complementar).

The Steering Committee of the Brazilian Petroleum Institute was a forum composed of senior executives of upstream oil & gas companies active in Brazil, including Petrobras, International and Brazilian companies. During his mandate he led the creation of ABEP, the Brazilian E&P industry association which succeeded the Steering Committe. in which he served as member of the Executive Committee. Ivan acted as the IBP spokesperson in governmental, congressional and media relations, leading advocacy efforts on behalf of the Brazilian petroleum and natural gas industry.

Ivan worked for BP Brazil 2007-2017, where he was Deputy Head of Country and Vice President Communications and External Affairs for Latin America. His accountabilities included managing relationships and advocacy with governments (federal, state and local), regulators, media, indigenous populations, quilombolas, fishermen, NGOs and industry and trade associations. Ivan was also responsible for community engagement and corporate responsibility, internal and external communications, and the maintenance of the Brazil crisis communications plan. Ivan was Director of in-country legal entities, sitting on subsidiary boards and accountable for fiduciary obligations and regulatory compliance. Other accountabilities includes managing the technology cooperation agreement between BP and Petrobras, serving as Ethics & Compliance Leader and President of BP pension fund BP Prev.

The Britcham Energy Committee is a forum where energy issues of interest to UK and Brazil are discussed through publications, seminars, workshops and luncheons.

Ivan was the President of the British Chamber of Commerce in Rio de Janeiro (Britcham) 2009-2011, and Vice President in 2008. He chaired Britcham Energy Committee from 2008 to 2012.

Ivan served as member of several committees in the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG), including as Chairman of the Projects of Special Merit Committee, and member of the Global Affairs Committee and Meetings Review and Planning Committee.

In 2003 Ivan joined Gaffney, Cline & Associates (GCA). After assignments in Rio de Janeiro and Houston he moved to Buenos Aires, from where he managed the company’s operations in the Southern Cone. His work covered technical, commercial, strategic and regulatory aspects of the petroleum industry. Key assignments included a study of Southern Cone’s natural gas markets, infrastructure and regulations; strategic advice to Pemex on developing Mexico’s deepwater resources; a review of E&P technologies applied in Argentina; a study of natural gas export alternatives in Colombia; the valuation of deepwater opportunities in the US Gulf of Mexico; advice to Ecuador, Congo-Brazzaville and Kuwait National Oil Companies; regulatory advice and review of petroleum legislations in East Canada and in the Australia/East Timor Joint Petroleum Development Area; data room reviews and reserves certifications and audits.

Ivan held two mandates as Vice-President of the Brazilian Geophysical Society (SBGf), a Scientific Society congregating Pure and Applied Geophysics professionals.

In 1992 Ivan joined the University of Campinas (UNICAMP). As Professor of Geophysics, he taught seismic methods, reservoir geophysics and mathematics. His research included integrating geological, geophysical and well data for reservoir characterization, and seismic modeling and inversion in heterogeneous anisotropic media. He held several positions, including Associate Director of the Center of Petroleum Studies, leading an international network of universities and institutes conducting petroleum research; and advising the Brazilian Ministry of Mines and Energy on the transition from monopoly to an open petroleum sector.

In 1998 Ivan joined the recently created Brazilian National Petroleum Agency (ANP) as General Manager for Licensing. He designed and implemented the licensing process for the first four Brazilian license rounds (1999-2002), which became an international reference for transparency and attracted billions of dollars in E&P investments. His role included designing license terms & conditions, editing concession agreement models, selecting blocks, preparing data packages, promoting opportunities internationally, qualifying interested companies, organizing auctions, and preparing agreements for signature.
