I was engaged to manage the software development for both the Singapore and Malaysia offices of Kelly Services. Two modules made up the software i.e. Recruitment and Payroll. Among the key tasks of this role was to schedule and plan the development activities while keeping development on track, on schedule and with limited resources. These objectives were met within three months after many delays prior to my engagement. A phased development process together with a structured change request methods were also successfully implemented.

Initially hired as the Project Lead and later transitioned into the Product Manager role, daily responsibilities in the beginning revolved around project scheduling and resource management to ensure a smooth delivery of the skills-based job portal. At the infancy of the Internet era in Malaysia, I was part of the young team assembled to build the first Internet portal for the Port Klang shipping community which ran on the company's electronic data interchange platform for the Port Klang Community System. I was responsible for understanding the end user requirements and compiling it as specifications for the technical team. The portal's main purpose was to publish the status of the Customs K1 and K2 forms for the shipping community. The portal also published other types of contents such as the mainstream Bernama News and information of interest from the public domain.As part of the young team, I was also given the responsibility to experiment with new technology platforms such as managing the production of the company's first multimedia presentation for the Asean Ports Association's Conference in Kuala Lumpur.
