This was a 49/51% joint venture between Glencore International PLC and Altyntau Resources JSC. As a Specialist Mining Advisor/Mine Superintendent, Ivan's focus was very much hands-on developing and implementing training outcomes, strategies, plans, and assessments for mobile equipment operators, engineers and supervisors, which involved 1 on 1 teaching, coaching, mentoring, and upskilling regarding how to correctly and efficiently operate the new modern equipment. Wall stability and control was improved by implementing proper survey control and utilising excavators to pull excess material from the batters (walls). He focused on dump, ramps, and roads. The mine pit development was technically challenging, due to previous underground drives and stopes, some of which were not correctly mapped and surveyed. Therefore, Ivan introduced procedures similar to those used in other western operations, where underground workings were part of the pit development. In the technical area, he assisted with the development of the mine plan and was the custodian of its implementation, ensuring budgets were met and costs were reduced when and where possible. Ivan assisted the technical team to purchase surpac and whittle mining software and provided engineers with training. Show less
