Every two years, voters elect all of the members of the House and one-third of the Senate. Although the Constitution lays out certain rules about how members of Congress should be elected, the states determine the details of elections, such as who can vote, how the votes will be counted, and the appearance of the ballots. There are three types of congressional elections: primary elections, general elections, and special elections. TYPES OF ELECTIONSType of ElectionExplanationPrimary Election Contest between candidates within a party to choose the party’s nomineeGeneral Election Contest between all party nominees and independent candidates; the winner becomes a member of CongressSpecial Election Contest to replace a member of Congress who leaves office in between regular electionsMidterm elections are general elections that fall between presidential elections (or in the middle of the president’s term). The general election of 2002, for example, was a midterm election because it fell between the general elections of 2000 and 2004 in which George W. Bush was elected and then reelected president

    Walk 2 Vote - Founder
    Walk 2 Vote Aug 2012 - May 2016
According to Tuft University in California, the Walk 2 Vote (W2V) initiative motivates 65% of the student body to vote at UHD (University of Houston-Downtown)! Compared to every university in the Nation at 5-15%!In 2012, putting my education to work as a political science major and as the Student Body President, my team and I responded to the low voting turn out of millennials and students and created the "Walk 2 Vote" (W2V) initiative. UHD has been nationally recognized by the White House for its increase of civic participation! As the event is now a tradition at UHD, I need to spread the initiative to other universities or cities! *This is LinkedIn, I look forward to serious inquires only. ------------------------------------------------------------ADDITIONAL INFO: I need partners that are legitimately passionate about civic engagement in Houston and across the country! I believe I found something over here, but I have a full time job and I need to share the information with you and many others to spread it. I share this info to spread the initiative. If you would like more information on how to make a W2V initiative in your city or university, please contact me. Found the initiative in 2012, and improved it in 2014 as Chair. The W2V is an initiative with multiple key components. As I can expand each point as it were a book, here are some factors:1.) A fun 3 month registration team effort2.) "Resume Building" deputization events3.) Appealing and bold mass marketing4.) Host a fun and intriguing 1hr rally - W2V
