Facilitated Lean Design® & QRC® sessions & provided very successful support for dozens of companies including Chrysler, McLaren F1, Club Car, Raytheon, United Components, Whirlpool, Trane, Cardinal Health, Airtex, Valeo, and Denso. Helped Cirrus Design double small aircraft production in a six month period. Developed & documented a corporate Quality Improvement Process, trained key personnel, & facilitated initial QIP projects with dramatic cost savings. Provided Lean Design® & QRC® analyses for defense programs including ATK WCMD and Raytheon Excalibur.
Ivan was one of the first Six Sigma Master Black Belts and has extensive experience in Six Sigma deployment and Black Belt training. Ivan was on a strategic team that led the group in winning the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award in 1992. Ivan was the Six Sigma program manager tasked with training all 15,000 group employees in one year. Over 2,000 customer and supplier personnel were also trained in that year. Ivan helped develop and implement the first Six Sigma Black Belt curriculum to certify internal experts. Ivan was elected by his peers to Member of Group Technical Staff. Ivan earned a corporate Quality Award for Excellence. Ivan was a member of TI’s Six Sigma Design Coordination Board directing the implementation of Design For Quality for the division. Ivan was registered as a Texas professional engineer. Prior to the corporate thrust activity, Ivan developed and instructed DFA, DFM, and various Quality courses in the TI Learning Institute. At TI’s Industrial Controls Division, Ivan was Manager of Factory Automation and Mechanization resulting in numerous productivity and Quality gains and the implementation of an SMD (surface mounted device) facility for electronic assemblies which became the basis for a very successful custom electronics business unit in TI. Also, in the Industrial Controls Division, Ivan held positions in product design, manufacturing, management, and marketing.
Ivan led the transformation of a time-worn facility into an automated showplace of customer acknowledged excellence for zinc and aluminum die castings. Ivan directed equipment rebuilding which included complete disassembly, stripping of all electrical controls, wiring, and hydraulics. Frames were inspected for cracks and weld repaired. Platens and toggle links were machined and new bushings were installed. Machines were fitted with new auto lube systems, new TI programmable controls, switches, sensors and wiring. New hydraulic pumps, valves, accumulators, cylinders, and distribution tubing were installed. Also, new mechanized ladlers and Unimate industrial robots were fitted and connected to the automated work cell. A large furnace was built on site to receive and hold 30,000 pounds of molten aluminum. Ivan managed all of this activity and personally programmed all controls and robots for the work cells.
The products were residential and commercial heating and air conditioning systems and consumer products. Ivan planned and implemented manufacturing facilities, aluminum die casting processes, and machining & deburring processes. Ivan developed equipment specifications, supervised installations and directed equipment rebuilding. Ivan designed special equipment & assembly fixtures and trained operators in proper use. Ivan purchased the first industrial robot for the division and was certified in programming and preventative maintenance.
