In 2016 Dr. Ivan Pedersen went back to the clinical work after 20 years of working with e-Health projects in Denmark. By the end of 2021 Ivan will be specialised as a General Practitioner working in Svaneke Lægehus at the island of Bornholm. Ivan has been a manager at The National e-health Authority in Denmark (NSI) from 2011 until 2015. NSI was primarily responsible for the coordination and consolidation of e-health initiatives and e-services at national level i Denmark. Prior to NSI Ivan was National Programme Manager at Connected Digital Health in Denmark (SDSD) from 2007-2011. SDSD was the Danish counterpart to NETHA in Australia and Infoway in Canada, At SDSD he was the chairman of steering comities’ in several of the major programs ex. the Shared Medication Record (FMK), the National Patient Index (NPI) and the Infrastructure for videobased translation. From 2002 to 2007 he was head of the development and implementation of Electronic Healthcare Record at the hospitals in Region Sjaelland. The biggest achievement in that period was the development and implementation of OPUS Medicine which is a web based medication module. It took 2 years from the first draft to the system was in use in two hospital and it still used in to of the five danish regions.Prior to this he worked for 7 years as Management Consultant at Ernst & Young from 1995 to 2002, helping hospitals in Denmark and Norway redesigning processes and buildings. In many of the projects, IT was used as supportive measures in achieving the desired changes in both organization and processes.From his graduation in 1988 to 1995 he worked as a junior surgeon at hospitals in the Copenhagen area.
