In June 2016, I joined the Foundational Applications team where I introduced a new message threading functionality for the internally developed e-mail system within the Bloomberg terminal using C++ back-end and a Javascript front-end. In addition, I was able to work along multiple teams to implement this three-tiered threading solution. I was also given the chance to learn more about Bloomberg while taking part in Bloomberg's software development efforts. During the internship, I received classroom and on-the-job training to help enhance my programming skills and instill a working familiarity with Bloomberg's systems.

Together we're building a set of kid-friendly tools, local "hack jam" events around the world, online games at hackasaurus.org, and a set of badges that help young webmakers earn achievements and level up. The result: empowering youth to see the Web as something they actively shape and make themselves, taking charge of their online lives and using the Web as a platform for their own creativity and self-expression.Instead of using toy languages or sandboxes, Hackasaurus lets young people use real web pages and HTML. This maximizes real-world skills, and turns the Web itself into one giant learning environment. Learners come away with fundamentals like early HTML, CSS and JavaScript skills, web browser and add-on basics, and prototyping and iterative design. More importantly, Hackasaurus helps learners see the Web as something they can actively make instead of just passively consume, becoming co-creators and taking charge of their own learning.
