The ERG Group was a .com darling company and a world leader in the development and supply of automated fare collection systems.Ivan built up and lead teams of up to 80 software engineers. Total value of the projects worked on was over 500 million Dollars.Ivan was managing teams responsible for architecture, design and development of award-winning smart card technology. He and his teams participated in all major transit systems projects undertaken by ERG (San Francisco, Seattle, Manchester, Goteborg, Stockholm, Las Vegas, Singapore).

Ivan joined Micromine as a Senior Software Engineer to later become the Team Leader of Micromine’s flagship software development product team.Major achievement during this period was the release of the first Windows version of the Micromine product. As part of this release Micromine was also ported from C to C++ and moved from 16-bit to 32-bit. Micromine became the first exploration and mining package to be available under Windows.

Before the buy-in by Rust-PPK the company was known as Mackie Martin & Associates.Ivan worked as a Hydrogeologist, specialising in groundwater modelling.Apart from using commercial off the shelf modelling software, Ivan also developed software for ground water solute transport simulation.Major achievements during this period were development of a groundwater finite element model for OK Tedi mine in Papua New Guinea, development of an Orebody 23 groundwater model for BHP Iron Ore Newman and development of Swan Coastal Plane model for the Water Authority in Perth, Western Australia.

This was Ivan’s first job after graduating as an engineer. His work at Micromine involved programming in C and C++ under MS DOS, Windows, Solaris, HP-UX and IRIX, developing code for geological modelling and graphical interpretation of geological data.
